147th Founder's Day

For 147 years, generations of Rafflesians have passed through our gates, each shaped by the values, friendships and experiences of RGS, and each going on to forge her own path in the world.

At our 147th Founder’s Day, we celebrated these Deep Roots, Strong Wings, honouring where we have come from, how we continue to grow and the part each of us can play in creating a better age.

We were honoured to welcome Ms Goh Hanyan (Class of 2002), Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Community and Youth, and Sustainability and the Environment, as our Guest of Honour.

Drawing from her own journey, Ms Goh left our students with three reflections for the paths ahead: do not let the opinions of others decide who you become, never underestimate the difference you can make in someone else’s life, and find what grounds you.

Her words were a timely reminder that having strong wings is not simply about how far we can go, but also having the courage to chart our own paths, make a difference to others and remain anchored in what matters.

This year’s Founder’s Day also marked the launch of Our Wild Garden, where nature can return and flourish while opening new possibilities for our students to observe, discover and learn through the natural world around them.

We also launched Project Grow and The Growing Tree, an installation that brings together the reflections and aspirations of generations of RGS girls. As our students spread their wings beyond RGS, the tree stands as a reminder of their roots, how they have grown and the legacy they leave for the Rafflesians who follow.

Founder’s Day was also an occasion to celebrate the achievements of our students and recognise our staff for their dedication and contributions to RGS.

And what is a birthday without cake? 🎂 A big thank you to the Parents for RGS Association (PRGS) for the beautiful cake that made our celebration a little sweeter!

As we celebrate 147 years of RGS, may our roots keep us grounded, our wings give us courage, and the lives we touch remind us what it truly means to be Daughters of a Better Age.
