Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition 2022
Hello everyone! We are Year 3 students Su Yeon and Muhan, part of the team Apollo 22. This Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC) journey has been a rollercoaster ride for us. With zero knowledge about the mechanics behind how a glider glided, our curiosity and interest lured us into signing up and since then, we’ve put in our best effort.

Singapore Science & Engineering Fair 2022
The Singapore Science & Engineering Fair (SSEF) is a national competition (open to 15-20 year olds) that is affiliated with the prestigious International Science & Engineering Fair. It is organised by the Ministry of Education, Agency for Science, Technology and Research and Science Centre Singapore (SCS). Due to COVID-19, the SSEF final judging was held virtually.

Taiwan International Science Fair 2022
I am Alysa Lee Mynn from the class of 2021. I represented Singapore at the Taiwan International Science Fair 2022 from 24-28 January earlier this year. When I first embarked on this machine-learning project as part of the Research@YDSP programme in 2020, it was beyond my wildest dreams that I would share this project with an international audience at an international science fair.

YMCA Plain English Speaking Awards (PESA) 2021
The YMCA Plain English Speaking Awards (PESA) 2021 is a national competition organised by YMCA of Singapore, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Speak Good English Movement.

Virtual YDSP Science & Technology Camp 2021
The theme for this year’s Young Defense Scientists Programme (YDSP) Science and Technology (S&T) camp was “Using AI on Satellite Images”, and the participants mainly learnt about satellites and their various purposes, ranging from national security to location finding, as well as basic programming involving machine learning. At the end of the 5 days, the participants were challenged to make use of machine learning to solve a problem involving national security.

YDSP World of Science
The World of Science (WOS) is a three to five day camp, under the Young Defence Scientist Programme (YDSP), organised by DSO. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the World of Science camp was held virtually this year. It offered a wide range of modules, such as aerodynamics, artificial intelligence, cryptography, computer security, electromagnets, sensors and robotics. Biodiversity Seminar by SVIA Group TheWildSide
What started off as an ambitious suggestion grew into fruition on the 5th of June, when Environmental Student-Initiated Values-in-Action (SVIA) group TheWildSide hosted their inaugural Biodiversity Seminar. With more than 50 participants from 11 youth project groups all over Singapore, the conference was ablaze with participants’ passion for environmental conservation.

Earth Week is an annual school event in RGS planned by Cogitare Club for our students. An exciting lineup of events will take place during the week to promote awareness of our changing climate, food sustainability and more.
The theme for Earth Week this year is Sustainable Living.
Head Prefect Elections

The Head Prefect Election is one of the important events for the student body, staff and the rest of the RGS community – past, present and future. The elected Head Prefect and Vice-Head Prefects will lead the student body into the next chapter of our RGS history.
